Preparing my solar telescope to avoid any mishaps tonight. Hopefully, all goes well, and for anyone joining us, please stay safe.

This eclipse is a tiny one, and we have much larger and more powerful eclipses coming our way in the near future. It’s still a beautiful event, but remember: safety is paramount, since we shall be close to the cliffs.

The Sun is a mobile spot through the scope. Not much activity on the Sun at the moment

🌟 Last Night on TV — Talking About Tonight’s Big Sky Events! 🌟

Last evening I appeared on the TV programme 𝐌𝐚𝐥-𝐄𝐫𝐛𝐚 𝐈𝐫𝐣𝐢𝐞𝐡, filmed at my shop-store, to talk about tonight’s two main celestial events:

🌞 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐄𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐬𝐞

Together with the Astronomical Society of Malta (ASM), we will also be hosting an open stargazing event 🔭 right after sundown. Everyone is welcome to join and enjoy the night sky with us. 🙂

🌞✨ 𝟏𝟐 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭: 𝐄𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐬𝐞 + 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐬 — 𝐀 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐤𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰! ✨🌠

This 12th of August is special. Not only will we experience a minor solar eclipse in the evening, but it’s also the peak night of the famous Perseids meteor shower, aka Dmugħ ta’ San Lawrenz.

This year is extra unique: the Perseids coincide with a new Moon, meaning no moonlight at all to disturb the view. The sky will be at its darkest, giving you perfect conditions to watch dozens of meteors streak across the night.

🌙 After midnight, grab your sleeping bags, bug spray, and head to a remote dark spot.
Find a quiet place, lie back, and enjoy one of nature’s most beautiful shows.

😄 Granted… you'll need the 13th off, unless you’re self‑employed like me, in which case I simply sleep the whole day after.

Malta is in for a magical night.

Waiting for clients to arrive!

Part of my job is doing Private events for people to learn about the night sky and everything it hides. A Telescope tends to open up some of those secrets 🙂

2 amazing telescopes for beginners 🌟

Same great views, two different ways to explore the night sky!

One guides you step by step to your targets,
the other finds them for you with a single press of a button.

Both are fantastic choices for young astronomers, especially with summer in full swing, and with Saturn 🪐 returning at the end of August, it’s the perfect time to start exploring.

Final day at the MFCC Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre for both myself and my friend Chris… What a blast it’s been. We met so many lovely people, showed the Strawberry Moon through my telescope, and those who had never looked through a scope before were genuinely amazed. We even met a flat‑earther who insisted the universe doesn’t exist and neither does gravity — but hey, that’s all part of the adventure 😃.

It’s been a wonderful 10‑day experience. We even brought our own Aperol Spritz 🍹because the one at the fair was a bit too pricey. But like all good things, this chapter comes to an end. Tonight is our last night, and then it’s time to pack up and bring my telescopes back home. 🌔🌟

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐔𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐬: You will def need a strong telescope to see Uranus, plus you need to wake up pretty early to see.

𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐧: Hard to imagine considering the heat 🥵

𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐬 -𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Venus doesn't like to be alone, so its alwasy meeting up with fellow celestial targets... Mercury, then Jupiter, then the Moon, and now Regulus

𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐤𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐲: It's the season finally, and the Milky Way will shine brighter from here till the end of August. You just need a dark place far away from Light Pollution, which is creeping everywhere, including the Dingli Cliffs Chapel toilets and their floodlights on top of the cabin, to tell it it's a toilet and you need to pay €1 to p*e or p**p

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 will give way to the much more popular Perseids (aka Dmught ta San Lawrenz ) meteor showers in mid August. This year, the Showers will not be affected by a full Moon
