"El Patio del Yeso" 📷

was discovered by the Architect Tubino during the late nineteenth century. It consists of a rectangular courtyard with a center pool around which the rooms are distributed. During the Almohad period, there were two porticos that opened to this courtyard. Today there is only the southern one, a jewel of the Almohad architecture; It consists of a larger central arch, on aris with the door of the room behind and flanked by three smaller arches on columns on each side. This portico is composed by lintels, so there is no weight over the archs, its only function is decorative. The decoration of these walls is called "tsebka", a typical Almohad and sevillian style. The architect Ahmed Ben Basso will use this style to decorate the exterior walls of the Giralda. In the room behind the portico it has appeared recently painted geometric decoration from XII century and painted floral decoration from XVI century.

The “Patio de las Doncellas” has a square shape with four boarding galleries; two consisting of seven arches and the others having five arches. The sides of the bedding are decorated with intertwined pointed arches separated by a marble column, which replaced the original brick columns. The lobed arches bear plaster works and reliefs, thus jointly with the rest of the structure results in a gran geometric and symmetric work.

With regards to the lower level, the same had spaces or rooms which were available for guests, while the superior level was reserved for private usage. The superior level was restored between 1540 and 1572. The Patio enables access to three palace halls named; “el Salon del Dormitorio”, Carlos V and the Ambassadors, the latter containing medals and imperial coats of arms

The Almohad monarchs had a magnificent fortress built in Seville. At later dates this
construction underwent notable modifications by the Christian kings. Pedro I ordered to
erect a palace in Mudejar style in the XIV century, the construction emulates the palace of
the lions of the Alhambra in Granada. In it is the Hall of Ambassadors, the most luxurious and
decorated room in the palatial enclosure. The dome that the image offers us corresponds to
that of the Ambassadors' Hall, it is one of the top works of Mudéjar Art that denotes a
marked Islamic influence. This wonderful dome is made of wood and is supported by
pendentives with golden muqarnas, these consist of juxtaposed and hanging prisms that reminds us of stalactites.
The dome is dated 1427 and was made by the carpenter Diego Ruiz. This dome did that in the past
