The statue of the Bodhisattva pictured here in all its serenity was handcrafted for the Bodhi Dhamma Vihara Bendigo- බෝධි ධම්ම විහාරය බෙන්ඩිගෝ in Bendigo, Australia. The sacred being, among others, is believed to have delayed his own attainment of Nibbana in order to help others enter paradise sooner.

Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting the patron of the Vihara Mr. Deeptha Wickramaratne, after many years of working together.
Mr. Wickramaratne who visited our humble shop in Kandy was given a token of appreciation by our Chairman Mr. Dhammika Swarnasinghe for his tireless work in developing the foundation in Bendigo.

Carved in sterling silver, this ornamental conch shell is a recreation of the ‘Hakgediya’, an instrument in traditional, ritualistic and religious folk music of Sri Lanka. When blown into, the sound marks the commencement of various auspicious ceremonies like weddings and religious rituals and the start and end of battles during wars in the past. The conch is tastefully decorated with Sri lankan garnets and 24ct matte gold accents which make known the contrasts between the 3 elements in colour and texture.
