Conscious living can be achieved simply by going back to our roots. Sugar wasn't always the go-to sweetener, it only came about in the early 1800s under the rule of the British government. Before sugar was introduced, honey was extracted from resourceful exotic fruits like coconut or palmyra to add sweetness

Our Pani Aluwa is a treat made with coconut honey, conscious of the health benefits and our identity as islanders

Kokis 😋 We believe this is a favorite of many. It’s definitely ours 😉 Kokis is a deep-fried, crispy Sri Lankan traditional food made from two simple ingredients, rice flour and coconut milk. Although considered as a traditional Sri Lankan dish, it is believed to have come from the Dutch.

This is an important dish when celebrating Sinhala and Tamil New Year and plays a major role in other special occasions. There are also several different ways you can indulge kokis as a snack.

1. Dust castor sugar over the rosettes to give it a sweeter flavor. These rosettes can be great as Christmas cookie treats!

2. Drizzle a bit of treacle over the kokis at the time of serving.

3. Dip into a bowl of chocolate sauce, I bet the kids would love it, you can also use white chocolate.

4. Add a few teaspoons of chilli powder to make a spicier version of the kokis.
