Know the return policy before you buy. Before you hit submit on that payment info, re-read the return policy. It varies from seller to seller, and some platforms have a restocking fee that can add up if you return items often. I try to avoid it, but sometimes it’s more worthwhile to donate garments that don’t fit to a local thrift store than it is to go through the hassle of returns. Or, you can set up your own selling account, although it’s important to be mindful and aware of the effects of thrift store gentrification.

Check wether that it is actually secondhand.( Don't mix this up with thrift stores selling non used closet clearouts, This is just to check wether retailers or manufacturers tricking you or not) While you can find new-with-tags garments on resale sites, it’s worth a few moments of digging to make sure that it’s not being sold by a wholesaler. For example, if it’s an eBay seller, check out what else they have for sale: does it look more like someone’s closet, or does it look like a store with multiple sizes of each style available? For vintage pieces, watch out for phrases like “vintage-inspired” and try to find a picture of the garment tag to see if it truly is vintage. When in doubt, message the seller to ask for more information.

Keep an open mind. Don’t get too precious about your search, since availability changes quickly. Stay open to “off-brand” options or pieces that may need a little TLC. And, give listings with less-than-perfect photos a chance since those might be the ones everyone overlooks. A sense of humor and a streak of curiosity will help you find new and interesting pieces for your wardrobe. Add terms like “unique” and “unusual” to your search terms on thrift sites to pull up garments that will turn heads. And if you find a seller you adore, give them a follow—chances are they’ll have other pieces in the future that you’ll like, too.

Know your measurements ! Sizing varies based on the age and brand of each garment, which adds to the challenge of thrifting online. One of my favorite "hacks" is to try on new versions of the piece in-store before thrifting it. Note the size, brand, and style, then search it online once you get home. This'll save you the frustration of a bad fit and the cost of a tailor. You can also keep a note on your phone with all your measurements and the sizes you wear in your favorite brands. Measure your favorite garments flat, too—some resellers only feature those measurements. This makes it faster to filter and search for exactly what you’re looking for. Still not sure? Opt for a larger size—it’s easier to tailor a large garment than it is to expand a small one.

In the inevitable situation that you discover a new slow fashion brand, take time to vet the company and ensure that you're investing your money wisely. Poke around the brand’s website for specifics about the design process. Is it slow, sustainable, and ethical for everyone involved? Does the brand disclose how and where the clothes are made? How many collections a year does the brand produce? Answering these and like-minded questions will illuminate whether or not a company practices what it preaches. When in doubt, you can send the brand an email or reach out on social channels!

Begin by giving up the urge to buy impulsively. Phone a friend before wasting your hard earned money on a new pair of shoes, or consult your current wardrobe before purchasing an item that won’t work with anything you own. Consider checking secondhand apps or thrift stores first when you’re ready to buy something new. And most importantly ask yourself, " Do I really need this?" If it is a yes check the material , check who made it and wether its recycled or new material made. Choose the most sustainable option and be a responsible citizen to our Mother Earth!

Capsule wardrobes are about personal style, but they are also a more mindful and sustainable way to think about clothing. Fast fashion and our consumerist culture have tricked us into believing that we must own everything, and the result is a stuffed closet full of clothes that we may never wear. While capsule collections originally produced an air of exclusivity and a designer’s artistic expression, most of the individuals who have now become capsule wardrobe experts got into the game because they are tired of “decision fatigue,” and also because they want to be more sustainable.

Create a love story. Look through your closet and recount the history of some of your favorite pieces. This can be as simple as remembering the time you spilled chocolate ice cream on (and then saved!) your white t-shirt or as grand as holding space for a piece of clothing passed down by a loved one. Put life back into your closet!

Well.. now I got your attention!! 🙃
This is not about the movie. This is about the beneficial friends who supports you for being more sustainable.

Having generous and kind hearted friends is a blessing. Not only for you but also for the planet. When you need a dress for an upcoming party or an event, you can ask for a dress from your most generous friend who’d love to lend you a dress.

Also your little friends group can make a cash collection and buy high quality outfits that you all can swap whenever you want.

These kinda non egoistic thoughts will help you to cut the unwanted expenses and it will be more eco friendly for our Mother Earth !

More people than ever before are speaking out on behalf of the planet, not just with their voices and votes, but with their wallets as well. The individual consumer decisions that each of us makes, from the car we drive to the food we eat, may be mere drops in the bucket when it comes to solving the biggest ecological challenges, but together they add up to a groundswell of support for change, one that leaders from all sectors of society would be wise to embrace.

As we all know, the clothing manufacturing industry pollutes the environment more than any other industry. So we all have the responsibility to minimize clothing consumption & we have the power to demand sustainable materials when we request an outfit from a fashion designer or a retail shop.

Let’s get together to save our Mother Earth by simply demanding Sustainability!!
