Can better childcare unlock job security for parents?
For Pamela, a working mother with five children under the age of five, family-friendly workplace policies are what make continued employment possible.
Across and , women’s workforce participation remains low at 26% and under 15%, respectively, with limited access to childcare as a key barrier. The Program, led by the World Bank Group’s IFC - International Finance Corporation, has brought together 18 companies with over 10,000 employees and 50 childcare service providers across and .
The impact is felt across the ecosystem:
- working parents can focus on their jobs with confidence,
- employers are encouraged to introduce family-friendly policies and nursery support, and
- our partnering bank, Jordan Kuwait Bank, is also providing tailored financing solutions to help women-led nurseries grow.
Together, these efforts are helping strengthen childcare systems across Lebanon and Jordan, improving early childhood outcomes, and enabling parents to retain their jobs.
