Champasak Pottery

Champasak Pottery Recreating images from a magnificent era from long ago, Champasak Pottery keeps the terracotta heritage of Vat Phou Temple alive.

From The Earth
Each piece of Champasak Pottery is birthed from the earth of Vat Phou Temple. Our clay is sourced near the foothills of the temple grounds. Though the long process creating each piece seems intensive, but it is a blink of an eye compared to a century. Human Touch
The clay is molded to a basic form. Then the meticulous process of carving begins. It may take a week or sometimes more.

Once the artisan is happy with the details piece, it needs 2-5 days to dry. Into The Fire
The pieces, lay to bask in the sun for several day. After drying in the natural breeze the firewood kiln is fired up. Even this requires careful attention. The fire must been continually stoked to maintain ideal heat. Seven days later, the pieces are ready to share their story to the world.
