Oromo Coffee Co. was started with a simple idea - to roast/sell delicious coffee that has been grown by exceptional African/Black coffee farmers, while rewarding them and celebrating their greatness in any capacity we can. We chose to use Oromo in our name as an homage to a people who have had a huge impact on coffees history across the continent of Africa (and the globe). What we never intended to do was to choose sides in a conflict, or support one group of brothers & sister over another. We only wanted to support coffee farmers, prop them up during a time of great need, and most importantly to address and reduce the discrepancy between the profits made by a mostly “white” distribution system, while our brothers and sisters who grow and procure this precious resource are living in poverty. We have now moved to set up operations in Nairobi (Kenya) where we will be working to fulfil the dream of establishing an all-black supply chain (more to come on this). So on this day 22/2/22, Oromo Coffee Co. will be no more… we will be know as Bantu Coffee Co. - Thanks, and Happy Bantu-esday ✊🏾
