Mohammad Asad in Holy city Mekkah:
His name was Mohammad Asad (Leopold Weiss); he was born on July 2, 1900.
He was born in Liviv (Ukraine) into a Jewish family. He was an eminent journalist, writer, activist, and educator. He was one of the most famous converts to Islam in the last century.
In the 1920s, he travelled extensively throughout the Middle East. He had a good relationship with the Saudi royal family. He wrote the famous travelogue and autobiography 'A Road to Mecca', in which he discusses his conversion, travel in the Middle East.
He died in 1992 in Spain and was buried in the Muslim cemetery of Granada.
