LIVE KAN at Nakano Broadway is not just a shop. It is a space built around a deep love for doujin culture.

Inside, shelves are packed with tens of thousands of titles. New releases sit next to works from decades ago. BL, otome, all-ages fanworks. Anime, games, manga, novels, and even live-action fandoms. You will also find rare 80s and 90s doujinshi and early works from legendary circles, carefully handled and preserved.

Right by the entrance, a glass showcase sets the tone. Staff pick their favorite ships and characters, then build detailed displays with figures and props. It feels personal and intentional.

The name “LIVE” reflects raw creative energy. These are not polished commercial products. They are direct expressions of fandom passion, always shifting with trends and hype.

The layout goes deep, not just by title or artist, but by pairing. Every shelf feels deliberate. You walk in for a quick look and end up staying.

If you’re into retro anime collectibles, Mandarake’s Card-kan on the second floor of Nakano Broadway is one of the best stops in Tokyo.

The shop is especially strong in 90s titles like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. You can find original carddass from the days when they were sold for 20 yen, along with prism holo cards, complete normal sets, and even releases from makers like Amada that are harder to come across now. For Cardcaptor Sakura, they sometimes carry both vintage trading cards and collectible items inspired by the Clow Cards.

Some of the rarest pieces are displayed in glass cases near the register, including limited or prize cards that can go for high prices depending on condition. More affordable cards are neatly organized in binders or sleeves, which makes it easy to take your time and search for specific numbers you might be missing.

Because these are paper items from nearly 30 years ago, condition matters a lot. Mandarake grades everything carefully, so you can feel confident about what you’re buying.

Nakano Broadway has plenty of anime shops, but if your focus is vintage cards, this is the place to start.

Konpeito, a space where Showa-era nostalgia is still very much alive.

You’ll find things that used to come tucked inside candy boxes or scattered across a child’s desk in the 1950s and 60s, karuta cards, brightly printed menko, old notebooks, and character goods that haven’t been seen in decades.
Many of these pieces were never meant to last, which is exactly why they’re so compelling now.

We focus on paper-based toys and vintage shokugan items that were once everyday objects, now quietly rare. Nothing here is reproduced; what you see is what actually survived.

If you’re drawn to the texture of old print, forgotten characters, and the atmosphere of early Showa culture, Konpeito is worth the visit.

Tucked away on the 4th floor of Nakano Broadway, MANIA-KAN is where manga history lives. This isn’t your typical anime shop; it’s a deep archive of rare and vintage material for serious collectors.

Browse first-edition manga, legendary debut issues of magazines like Shonen Jump, and even prewar or kashihon-era books you seldom see in the wild. They also carry production materials like anime scripts, storyboards, and setting documents-actual pieces from behind the scenes.

Stock changes constantly, so every visit is different. If you’re into rare finds, research-level material, or want to see the roots of manga culture, this is the spot.
