We’re proud to be supporting another step forward in Jersey’s journey to lower carbon energy 🌱

With roots dating back to 1890, Cooper & Co. is one of the island’s oldest locally owned businesses — built on a long tradition of quality, community, and global trade.

As a business founded in 1830, Island Energy understands the value of long-standing partnerships that continue to evolve.

We’re delighted to share that Cooper & Co is transitioning to 4Gen Gas through Island Energy across their operations.

This move will help reduce their reportable carbon emissions from gas by up to 90%, while maintaining the high standards their customers know and trust.

We’re excited to be working together to help power a more sustainable future for Jersey.

With National BBQ Week taking place this week, we’re sharing a reminder about the importance of using BBQs and outdoor gas appliances safely.

While BBQs are a great part of summer, they should never be used inside tents, caravans, cabins or enclosed spaces. Even after cooking has finished, BBQs can continue to produce carbon monoxide fumes for several hours.

As a gas provider, helping customers understand safe gas use is an important part of what we do, and simple reminders like this can help prevent serious incidents.

Always use BBQs outdoors with plenty of fresh air and never leave a lit BBQ unattended. Have fun, be safe.

Did you know this week is National BBQ Week? All we need is the weather to comply now…

As a business that works with gas safely every day, we know how important it is to make sure equipment is being used correctly, especially during the summer months when BBQs are back out in gardens.

If you’re using a gas BBQ this summer, taking a few simple precautions can help keep things safe and running smoothly. Before you start cooking:
• Check hoses are securely attached and in good condition
• Make sure the gas cylinder is turned off before changing bottles
• Only change cylinders outdoors
• Avoid over-tightening connections
• Check for leaks in line with the manufacturer’s guidance

Once you’ve finished cooking, turn off the gas cylinder first before switching off the BBQ controls. And remember, BBQs should only ever be used outdoors in well-ventilated spaces.

A few simple checks can make all the difference and keep things safe.

4Gen Gas represents the next step in how energy is delivered on Jersey, a lower-emission option that still provides the reliability homes depend on.

It marks the fourth generation of gas products supplied by Islands Energy Group, following nearly 200 years of service to island communities. Today, that evolution continues with rates based on bioLPG and biomethane, lower carbon alternatives designed to work with existing LPG and natural gas systems.

It’s a practical way to reduce your environmental impact, without changing how you use energy day to day. A more considered step forward, built on generations of experience.
