The history of TePe began in 1965 when wood-carver Henning Eklund developed a new kind of dental stick in cooperation with professors of the School of Dentistry in Malmö. The dental stick was triangular to fit the natural shape of the interdental space. In 1973, Henning's son Bertil Eklund developed the business by manufacturing the first toothbrush. Today more than 25% of all toothbrushes purchased in Sweden come from TePe. The interdental brush was introduced in the early nineties and rapidly became TePe’s leading product. TePe is still owned by the Eklund family. Headquarters and all production remain under the same roof for a reliable and flexible manufacturing process. The company is still run by the family. The management and the entire production are located under one roof in order to guarantee a reliable and flexible production.
