This tecnique is called "frosted glass" and it was introduced in the early '50s in the island of Murano by some glass artists in order to obtain an archeological effect typical of objects found under the ground after a very long time.

During the manufacture of the glass piece at the temperature of 800 C the artist fuses a mixture of several powders on the surface of the glass piece and even today the mixture of oxide powders is kept secretly from every artist......

The ability of the artist to blow the hot glass very thin and to model it in very delicate shapes, entirely made by hand just using a few rudimental tool, has made these collection glasses very famous along the centuries.

About the History of the glass beads the most significant part belongs to the european glass beads industry.
During the 16th century untill the 20th century missionaries, explorers and traders have carried everywhere with them as objects of barter or gifts a big varieties of glass beads.
The result of these activities have increased the volume of the bead production as well as the

The lampworked glass beads still today are produced completely by hand using colored glass canes and a small but intense flame.
By melting the glass cane close to the flame and in the meantime by rolling the glass cane around a stick, traditionaly a copper stick, it’s possible to shape any glass bead.
With this tecnique the glass artists create a infinitive variety of beads just modifying the shapes, the decorations and the colors.
