The Vault of Aurelios
Hidden beneath a centuries-old banking fortress in the heart of an ancient European city lies the Vault of Aurelios — a chamber whispered about in legends but dismissed as myth. For generations, only the highest-ranking custodians of the Aurelios lineage knew the truth: the vault held not just wealth, but power.
Lined with solid mahogany and sealed with arcane mechanisms, the vault remained untouched for over two hundred years. Behind its curved steel door, under layers of velvet and linen, rested neatly stacked gold bars — their surfaces gleaming with purity, stamped with seals of forgotten empires and secret societies. Each bar, beyond its material value, was said to be a keystone in a network of influence, forged in eras when gold dictated kingdoms and kings bowed to wealth.
The linen sacks stacked behind the bars held rare coins, gemstones, and manuscripts — currencies of power from different epochs, all preserved as if time dared not trespass here.
Legend has it that the last Aurelios patriarch vanished after sealing the vault, leaving behind a cryptic journal that read: "Only the one who knows that true gold is not mined, but earned, shall inherit the keys to eternity."
In modern times, when the bank was to be demolished for redevelopment, engineers unearthed the hidden chamber. They were silenced, contracts signed, and government agents stepped in.
