Over 1,400 white-sided dolphins were killed last week on the shores of the Faroe Islands. Let that number sink in. In a slow, cruel hunt that even seasoned whalers have deemed unethical, an entire super pod of over 1,400 white-sided dolphins was slaughtered. Sign the petition at the link in our bio to stop the cruel hunt of dolphins in the Faroe Islands.
The panicked animals, including pregnant females and calves, were driven forward for several hours before being left to suffocate on land as the whalers killed them one by one. The horrific event is estimated to be the largest single cull in the island’s history.
The annual dolphin hunt, called the Grindadráp or sometimes referred to as “The Grind,” is a tradition in the Faroe Islands; however, the practice is now being reexamined in light of the mass killing.
