In the absence of any other significant income earning opportunity for the rural women it became imperative to provide them with a source of livelihood. “Clay is a naturally occurring material composed of fine grained minerals, which shows plasticity at appropriate water contents and becomes harder when dried or fired”. Clay also contains alkaline properties due to presence of sodium and potassium oxides specially found in Morbi-Wankhaner, Gujarat. Due to alkaline in nature Clay helps in neutralizing the pH balance of the food by interacting with the acid present in the food.
Clay is a porous material, allows heat and moisture circulate evenly-this helps in cooking, frying evenly. Moisture content of the food is retained thus making your food juicer, tender and fresher.
