Vijaydurg fort was built up by Shilaharas and was known as 'Gheria'. Shivaji Maharaj initially, conquered this strong sea fort and he himself unfurled the victorious flag on the fort. The fort, is the symbol of the victory of the Marathas, was conqured in Vijay Sanwatsar so Shivaji Maharaj renamed it Vijaydurg. In this fort the maruti temple, bhavani mata temple, jibicha darwaza, gomukhi main gate, cannon, cannonballs, khalbatkhana, nagarkhana, sadar,horse stables, two tunnels are open, one tunnel open to channel and one open to khubladha tofa bara bastion. Sahebache ote, jakhinichi tofa, a huge water tank, invented a bulwark of 500 mt. in length and 5 ft height at the bottom of the sea of north weast side this places are available in this fort.
