POSTCARDS FROM PĀSEI
Exam season is over and the neighborhood is once again full of tension-free kids looking forward to the Christmas celebrations. This happy bunch of girls rolled up out of the blue and in the chaotic mix of curiosity and fun, we managed to squeeze in a read-aloud session of 'Khuavang' written by and illustrated by . Needless to say, we were left 'speechless.'

Shout out to for bringing out children's books where characters, visuals, and stories are based in and around the North-East – and by working with writers and illustrators from the region. Representation matters!

It's only Monday, but we have a packed weekend to look forward to with the screening of the documentary 'A HILL TO DANCE ON,' followed by an interactive session, and a special workshop to pick up some groovy dance moves. This delightful picture book from designer/illustrator Sanchita Jain is a whimsical and heartwarming exploration in the life of her gorgeous cat, Ollie. Snapshots from their adventures together are brought to life through her playful illustrations. What's more, we are absolutely in love with the paper and the binding of this book — something that the author has gone to lengths to get right! 🐈

We absolutely love it when writers drop in with freshly printed copies of their new books and here we have Makanmi Horam with 'Maitonphy and Shimreishang: A Tale of Endless Love' which he co-authored with Sochanphy A Shimray.

It's not everyday that a francophonie from our dear little hometown drops in to say 'Salut!', much less with a bunch of books to tickle our French palate. Thank you so much, Merci beaucoup, Ningshinahairei — !

We are thrilled to add them to our Language collection and are certain they will pique the interest of our readers to learning more about this beautiful language and its wonderful culture.

Welcome to another edition of Pāsei Visits!

You know we love dropping in at local bookstores whenever we hit the road and this time we had the chance to visit in Kohima. Snuggled right in the heart of town, this cozy bookshop-café is a delightful den to catch up on your reading along with scrumptious tidbits and refreshing drinks. We love the section and helped ourselves to some adorable postcards. The North-east and Naga writers section is commendable. If you're around, don't miss their book events and author interactions that pop up every now and then. Folks in Kohima (especially its readers) sure are lucky to have a such a place as this right at home! Notwithstanding the notorious traffic, we'll definitely be back for more!
