Glimpses of   Book Talk  on "Unsankari - A Feminist" by Nirvana Bhandary.

The author Nirvana Bhandary was in conversation with Anuradha Sharma.

The conversation examined how individual backgrounds shape one's worldview and the inherent advantages—or obstacles—that come with them.

The dialogue also included important and often overlooked discussions on intimacy and sexuality, highlighting their importance in the modern narrative of self-actualization.

A significant portion of the evening focused on the author's personal journey.

She spoke openly about self-acceptance and her coming to terms with her authentic self in a world that often demands conformity.

Nirvana  also spoke about navigating the inevitable "judgmental" responses from society regarding her lifestyle choices.  She also spoke of how living life on her own terms—regardless of tradition—became a radical act of self-love.

The event was a full house with an engaged audience. Thank you everyone for your valuable presence.

Exclusive author signed copies of " Unsanskari - A Feminist Life" is now available at our bookcafe.

Analogue Connect 10

Our featured books for Analogue Connect Chapter 10 were Lazen Khando Yolmo founder and headmistress of Chahal Inclusive Preparatory School and Loden Lama a writer based in Salbari, Siliguri.

Lazen Khando Yolmo  "I am bold, I am unapologetic, I am free—misunderstood by many, known by few. Before you label me, listen to my story."

She walked us through the many seasons of her life—from quiet, friendless days to finding her circle, through school, college, university, and work. With honesty and gentle humour, she shared moments of standing firm against what did not align with her values.

She spoke of the people who shaped her journey and of her path toward building an inclusive school for children with special needs. At its heart, her story was an invitation—to listen before we label. In many ways, telling it was her own form of healing.

Loden Lama “The Beauty of the Crash: Learning to Love the Risk of Failure”

Loden reflected on growing up as the “good boy” and a high achiever—and how that identity can quietly limit us. He spoke about choosing science despite a deep love for literature, the weight of expectations and the eventual crash that led him back to what he truly cared about.

With the support of his parents and a few guiding voices, he chose English literature—despite questions around security and practicality. His reminder was simple: risk is not something to avoid, but something to walk through. Every meaningful choice asks something of us—like love does.

Let go of the need to appear perfect. Keep walking.

The conversation that followed was reflective and grounded, with many finding pieces of their own stories in what was shared.

A small highlight—Lazen Yolmo's friends in the audience, listening, remembering and celebrating their journey together.

History found a new voice at Cafe The Twins as Foothills Publishing held the book launch of ‘The Story of Ghum Museum’s little engine – Baby Sivok’. The air was thick with nostalgia and the scent of fresh ink as community leaders, artists, and railway enthusiasts gathered for the official launch of The Baby Sivok Project—a groundbreaking "dual-read" story and coloring book by author and illustrator David Charlesworth.
The event was more than a book launch; it was a vibrant tribute to the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) and the "Iron Lady" of the mountains that has connected these slopes for over a century.

The book was officially launched by Mr. Rishav Choudhary (Director of the DHR), Mr. Raj Basu (Founder of Help Tourism and ACT), and Mrs. Lekha Rai (Founder of Foothills Publishing).

A young student Ananya Chamling delivered a soul-stirring recitation of "Iron Lady," a poem by Dr. Sangmu Lepcha.

Anuradha Sharma, author and journalist, introduced the man of the hour, David Charlesworth. David detailed the "Baby Sivok" project, explaining the meticulous research and the decision to create a dual-format to encourage interactive engagement with history

Srinika Chakraborty a young reader shared her personal reflections on how the story of the Sivok engine resonates with a new generation of readers.

The students of the Ashok Rai School of Music brilliantly performed in the song "Darjeeling ko Sano Rail"

Glimpses of Feminine Echoes - Voices That Inspire

Feminine Echoes is a platform for women voices from different spheres of life. A space to share their wins, their triumphs, their struggles and challenges.

We were honoured to have Sukriti Sophiya Lama an award winning scientist for the second season of Feminine Echoes.

It was indeed inspiring to listen to her story. The talk focused on feminism and how often it is misinterpreted, and that Feminism is respecting diverse women"s experiences, identities and that We will always need Feminism, also the idealism of matriarchy and its powerful role in every woman"s life .She also delved into the idea of how visibility of successful women cannot be equated with empowerment and equality of all and the possibility of achieving your dreams in spite of the leakages that exist in the structural social system pipeline.
