Tilkut( तिलकुट) means Til or Sesame seeds which has been repeatedly hit to become crisp, Soft and delicate. It is also sweetened by using either Jaggery or Sugar. It has its origin in Gaya district of Bihar where there are lot of families involved in Making this sweet for generations together. As per history references, it has been referred as “palala” in Buddhist literature.

It is a must to eat during the January 14, Makar Sankranti celebration in Bihar and Some Part of Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. It really tastes awesome along with Curd, Rice Flakes (Chura) and Jaggery/Sugar.
Method of Preparation and Preservation
Finest quality of sesame seeds are mixed with sugar or jaggery in the right proportions and heated for a certain period.
