Most people pick a light fixture for how it looks. The colour temperature is what actually changes how the room feels.
Here’s how to get it right —
Bedroom | 2700K–3000K
Warm, amber light. Signals your brain to wind down. This is not the place for bright white.
Living room | 3000K–3500K
Warm but slightly crisper. Works for conversation, relaxing, and ambient evening light without feeling clinical.
Kitchen | 4000K–5000K
Neutral to cool white. You need to see clearly — what you’re cutting, the colour of food, the inside of the fridge. Warmth here works against you.
Home office / study | 5000K–6500K
Daylight range. Keeps you alert, reduces eye strain, and mimics natural light so your focus doesn’t dip.
Bathroom | 4000K–5000K
Neutral white around the mirror for accurate colour — especially for grooming and makeup. Avoid warm tones here; they distort everything.
Dining room | 2700K–3000K
Back to warm. Food looks better, skin looks better, the mood is right. A dimmer here is non-negotiable.
One home. Six different colour temperatures. That’s intentional design.
