Rosa Abraham
(Kosava Studio | Ceramic & Glass Designer)
Working from her home studio in Thiruvananthapuram, ceramic and glass designer Rosa Abraham, founder of Kosava Studio, builds a practice rooted in quiet observation and material sensitivity.
Trained in Ceramics and Glass Design at the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, Jaipur, where she completed her postgraduate studies, Rosa developed a strong foundation in material exploration and contemporary craft practices before establishing her independent studio practice.
Her creative process begins with noticing — architecture, foliage, and everyday objects become starting points that gradually transform into forms, textures, and patterns in clay. Rather than imposing ideas onto the material, Rosa allows the responsiveness of clay itself to guide the making, embracing a slow and attentive rhythm of creation.
Each piece is either hand-built or wheel-thrown, shaped patiently so that the traces of touch remain visible. This deliberate pace lends her work an intimate, human quality — objects that carry the memory of process as much as purpose.
Rosa’s practice exists at the intersection of function and sculpture. Her ceramics gently blur the boundary between utility and art, inviting users to pause and notice small sensory experiences: how a cup rests in the hand, how light moves across a surface, or how a form holds shadow and silence within a space.
Through Kosava Studio, she creates objects meant not only to be used, but to be lived with — pieces that encourage mindfulness in everyday rituals.
