VEILROMA FOUNDERS COLLECTION:
NORITAKE ICONIC BAMBOO PATTERN.
Each piece tells a story that embodies the spirit, history & soul of VEILROMA passed down by generations..
She did not come to me from an antique market or a collectors fair. But she was passed down by inheritance -not as a a gift , but as a trust . No grand ceremony , no explanation just few simple words “this should be yours now.’’I held her & felt its not the porcelain, not the history but continuity , the invisible thread that runs between generations, speaking the same language.
History behind : The MEJI MODERNISATION. (1868-1912)
The mission was breathtakingly ambitious, to create a fine bone china that could rival the great European houses like Meissn, but still carrying the unmistakable soul of JAPAN. Between 1930 -1960 Japan was exporting millions of pieces worldwide & bamboo motif was the most beloved signature pattern that across America, Europe & Asia.
WHY BAMBOO?
Japanese aesthetic philosophy , wabi sabi . bamboo embodied everything , that Japanese held sacred.
R: bends deeply in wind but never breaks, depicting resilience.
P:Grows straight symbolising purity,
H:Hollow inside symbolising humility carries nothing unnecessary.
L :Stays green through out .
THE PLATINUM AND SILVER & GOLD COMBINATION
Speaks of precise craftsmanship . Hand applied Platinum silver rim. Gold and silver was layered alongside in the silver bamboo motif. This dual metal technique represented the finest of JAPAN to the world.
GLOBAL TEA CULTURE UNITED THE EAST & THE WEST.
The silhouette round belly , elevated lid , looped handle reflect the meji era design.Japan deliberately modernised its aesthetic to appeal the western taste. The shape is European but the motif is entirely Japanese .This art swept all across Europe.
REFLECTION
VEILROMA to me is a conversation – between the mountain & the leaf, the past & the present. The MEJI COLLECTION now sits at the heart of VEILROMA not as a product but as a reminder that most extraordinary things in life are eared through love , through seasons, willingness to walk slow through a misty Himalayan garden at dawn.
