Because every day is Mother’s Day!

At Kahani Tree, we love how children’s literature helps us see motherhood through different lenses, cultures, emotions, and experiences—gentle, funny, imperfect, strong, and deeply human.

Here’s a collection of books we treasure, from across multiple publishers around the world.

And such a wonderfully ‘wild’ morning we had! For a little while, Kahani Tree transformed into a cozy cinema space with children and parents completely drawn into the world of Monu, Raju, and the elusive leopard, Shera.

Sensitive, emotional, and stunningly beautiful, the film Shera, directed by filmmaker , captivated children and adults alike, who watched in rapt attention with wide-eyed wonder. After the screening, we had a wonderfully lively Q&A session with Arun. It was a joy to see everyone engage so deeply with the story and the filmmaking process.

The morning ended with Arun signing and personalizing copies of his graphic novel Shera for children, while warmly and enthusiastically interacting with them, always one of our favourite parts of our events.

Thank you, Arun, for sharing your extraordinary work with us, and thank you to for collaborating to make all this possible. And finally, a big thank you to all the children and parents who made the morning so warm, thoughtful, and engaging.

What is a poem, really?

Is it the smell of warm bread from a bakery?
A memory held by grandparents?
A bird’s song?
Or perhaps… a feeling too big for ordinary words?

Playful, philosophical, funny and deeply moving, this extraordinary picture book, ‘This Is a Poem That Heals Fish’ by Jean-Pierre Siméon and illustrated by invites children to experience poetry not as something to analyse, but something to feel.

Little Arthur sets out on a tender quest to heal his sick goldfish, Leon with a poem — only to discover that everyone has their own beautiful idea of what poetry means.

This wonderful story was originally published in French in 2005, translated into English by in 2007, and into Hindi by in 2026.

Hindi Translation by Mukulika Batabyal and Tajin Ali
