Imam Hussain is speaking to his beloved sister Zainab; ‘My beloved sister, the time has come for you to look at my body one last time..

Ya Zainab, my state is such that I do not even know if I will be buried. Oh my beloved sister, I do not know if ever my head will rest in Karbala.

But what shreds my heart to pieces Ya Zainab, is what my father had told me would happen to you, after I no longer exist. Do not cry my sister for your tears will only bring peace to the hearts of the enemy.

You must be strong, ya Zainab. Remind everyone of who you are and the name of your father, Ali ibn Abi Talib.’

Sakina (a) was the most beloved daughter of Hussain ibn Ali and used to sleep on his chest every night.

Like any other four-five year old, when Sakina (a) went to bed at night she always wanted to spend some time with her father. Imam Hussain would tell her stories of the Prophets and of the battles fought by her grandfather Imam Ali (a).

Hussain ibn Ali was often heard saying, "A house without Sayeda Sakina would not be worth living in".

On the 2nd of Muharram, the army of Yazid ibn Muawiya began to gather at Karbala, Hussain ibn Ali said to his sister Zainab, "The time has come for you to get Sakina used to going to sleep without me".

Peace be with you, O pampered one of al-Hussain, the one who cried “Who made me an orphan though I am still a child?”

Imam Hussain’s caravan has reached Karbala. Thousands of Yazid's soldiers were already there, having arrived long before the Imam.

The small tribe living in Karbala’ gathered around Hussain’s caravan. Imam Hussain enquired about the price of the land in Karbala’. He then bought the entire land.

Then, he spoke to the menfolk of the tribe.

“O, menfolk of Karbala’! We have not come here to fight. Yazid's soldiers will fight with us and we will be killed…They will not bury our bodies and our bodies will be left to the wild animals of the desert. I request a favour from you. Please, bury our bodies.”

Yazid's army increased in number, nearly 20,000 of Yazid’s soldiers surrounded Imam Hussain’s tents.

Why so many to fight no more than 72 brave and faithful men from the army of Imam Hussain (a)?
