A dear friend sent me this poem by Robert Burns, and it will always remind me of my Baba:
The friend of man, the friend of truth,
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so informed;
If there is another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.
Baba was all of this and so much more. He loved his family, his home, his plants, his books, his bridge, his whiskey, his people and his Belgaum.
He gave back to society, believed in the younger generation, and was always excited to try something new.
A very very optimistic person always looking at the bright side, always ready to give people a chance. He talked football with Abir and Sahir, pottery with me, and movies with Rishi. He worked with passion till the very end and gave my brother and me everything we need to live, love, and thrive.
He left us on Sunday. My heart is broken, but I know his love will stay with me forever and ever. Goodbye Baba 🥺
