These are an ultimate Manifestation of Weaving Perfection.. signifying an heirloom, heritage, classic.

We at Epicurean Caravan are engaged with a Sole adept Weaver cluster at grassroots to bring aboard a very select Traditional Range for our patrons who Value heritage and Old World.

In Eight Ply Mulberry Silk using using IKAT or Resisting Dyeing or Tie and Dye Technique .The only weave where thread and yarn is actually dyed before placing on the loom.

Woven in the typical Spun Texture that it is typical of only this Tie and Dye, an outcome of the silk yarn bring hand pulled to make and reel into threads.

It's weaving requires a great deal of Mathematical precision, vivid visualisation of the final design and deep patience. Even a single thread’s displacement can completely deform the pattern, making the piece redundant.

The complexity and time-intensiveness is what makes this Patola so valuable. An exactitude; where measurements can be as minute as 1/100 of an inch.

This exclusive Collector' s Double Ikat Maniabandha with Pasapalli Borders and Kothi Motifs in Spectacular Colours is on FOUR Ply Silk. While 99% in this weave are normally on Three Ply silk.

With a grand Mayur 🦚Pallu with forest animals is an aesthetic delight in bandha.

This weave from the Naupatna Weaver Cluster in Odisha that carries the prestigious GI tag.

In Patola Tie and Dye; each thread goes through setting based on the graph and then resist dyed before being put on the loom. Measurements can be as small as 1/100th of an inch' and any error could set the whole design awry.

Woven in Eight Ply Pure Mulberry Silk from twisted yarn where eight strands are combined to make a thread; and using Resisting Dyeing or Tie and Dye Technique where both the Warp and Weft threads known as Tana and Bana are wrapped to resist the dye according to the desired pattern where tying is repeated for each colour that is to be included. The twisting process of the yarn gives it a unique Woven Spun texture like none other.

Weaving Process
It normally takes three people about six to eight months or even a year to weave a Double Patola.

The first step involves tying of the yarn with cotton threads according to the pattern.The yarn undergoes multiple cycles of tying and dyeing, following a specific order of colours. Displacement of even a single yarn can disturb the design arrangement and make the set redundant.

Every colour has a unique place in the design; which needs to be carefully aligned while weaving it. Such intricacy requires extreme precision and patience.

Once the yarns have been suitably Dyed and Dried, the weaver lines them up on the loom to form the pattern. The design takes form as the yarn is woven into cloth. This is an incredibly complicated process, as the weaver has to precisely dye the threads, and place them correctly so it forms the correct pattern when woven. In order to replicate a pattern, the weaver would have to dye the thread in exact
