Lord krishna's index fingure got wounded when he used the Chakra to punish shishupal. That's when draupadi tore a part of her sari to stop the bleeding on krishna's fingure & krishna said, "I am indebted, & when the time comes I will repay the debt of each & every strand of fiber". This probably is the first instance of Rakshabandhan. Happy Rakshabandhan to all.
