The story of Paroani Crafttouch LLP (Paroani) started way back in the late nineteen nineties when two sisters, Dr. Paramita Ghosh (Paro) and Anindita Dutta (Ani), who were brought up since their kindergarten days in the idyllic town of Gurudev Rabindra Tagore’s Shantiniketan started making their own designs on drawing boards. As days went by, the art of designing which they began as a childhood ho
bby gradually turned into their sole passion for designing exquisite apparel, dress materials, and upholsteries. Through rigorous training and hard work, they further honed their skills and took it to near perfection. Their work on “Kantha” and “Hand block Prints” has been widely acclaimed in India and abroad earning them many accolades. In their journey above, Paroani joined hands with the local artisan community of Shantiniketan and formally trained them to replicate their authentic designs on “Kantha” and “Hand-block Prints”. The thoughtful designs of Paroani which are inspired by the rich cultural heritage of India are distinctly reflected in the sarees, apparel, dress materials, and upholsteries thus creating an exclusive cultural identity of the products which is timeless and immortal. Thus, in a way, these works of art are an example of perfect bonding and harmony between the authentic Paroani designs and local artisans. Paroani is working with an artisan group of more than five hundred persons in and around Shantiniketan. The artisan families have been specially trained and handheld by Paroani to reach a desired level of perfection in the last two and half decades. The artisan groups comprising mostly women are now financially independent. Paroani has thus set an example for women's empowerment through their work. Paroani, which till now catered to a selected group of customers in India and abroad would like to make their designs and apparel more affordable and accessible. Keeping in view the widespread demand for their works of art and with the objective of making their age-old handicrafts of India more popular in the world and at the same time to socially uplift the talented but financially weak artisan community of West Bengal, Paroani has come into existence. Customer opinion and feedback will be the vital driving force in our journey.
