Navratri is a nine days festival dedicated to Goddess Durga. Navratri is a Sanskrit word which literally means nine nights. During these nine nights and ten days, Goddess Durga is worshipped in 9 different forms, known as Navdurga. The tenth day is celebrated as Vijayadashami when idols of Goddess Durga are immersed into the water body.

Navdurga which means Nine Durga is the manifestation of Durga in nine different forms. The concept of Navdurga originates from Goddess Parvati. Conceptually Navdurga is the life phase of Goddess Parvati who is considered supreme power among all Goddesses.

Navratri is very popular festival in the western states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and the southern state of Karnataka. On the very first day of Navratri, Goddess Durga is invoked into a Kalash with full Vedic rituals along with chanting of Mantras. The invocation and dwelling of Goddess Durga into the Kalash is known as Ghatasthapana or Kalashsthapana and is done at an appropriate time of the day.

Rainy seasons are one of the most exciting times to ride a bicycle!
Light drizzles and blowing wind adds to the adrenaline rush for any passionate bicycle riders.

However in the monsoons, how it is important to take a little bit extra care of our own heath. The same way it is very necessary to take some extra care of your bicycles.

Just follow these five simple ways to make sure your bicycle never lets you down in these amazing rainy rides!

1. WASH AFTER EVERY RIDE:
Rides in the rains exposes your bikes to lot of elements like water, mud and dirt. Even with mud-flaps to protect there is a high chance that your bicycle will be exposed to these elements. So it becomes really important to take 10-15 minutes after every ride to wash down your bike so that the mud doesn’t become hard and get stuck in tight spaces. Which in future will hinder your rides.

2. DRY IT COMPLETELY:
Moisture is one of the biggest concern for bicycles every monsoon especially for a country like India where the rains are pretty heavy throughout the country. Moisture causes corrosion of various parts of your bicycle which will lead to ineffective working of the drivetrain and also reducing the strength of your frame. So make sure that you dry the whole bike once with a cloth to prevent any moisture.

3. KEEP THE COVERED:
After using the bicycle make sure it is kept under covers or sheets if you do not have a garage or space inside the house to store your bike. Reduce the exposure to direct water as much as possible.

4. TIRE PRESSURE:
Make sure the tires are not worn out and the air pressure is maintained a few PSI lower than the recommended pressure. As the roads are slippery, it helps to have a better grip on the road and avoids accidents.

5. LUBRICATE FREQUENTLY:
Frequent re-lubing of the chain drive will make sure that your drivetrain works in full potential and does not fail anywhere along the ride which is much ,ore important during the wet days.
