🌺 Disappearance Day of Shri Raghunandana Thakura 🌺

Shri Mukunda Das, Madhava Das and Shri Narahari Sorkar Thakur were three brothers who lived in Shri Khanda. Raghunandan was the son of Shri Mukunda Das. [C.C. Madhya 15]
In the house of Shri Mukunda Das, Lord Shri Gopinath was served with great devotion. One day Mukunda was called away for work and instructed his five-year-old son Raghunandan to worship and feed Gopinath. He explained that, just as his parents fed him every day, Gopinath also had to be fed daily.

Raghunandan lovingly prepared the offering and placed it before Gopinath. When the Lord did not eat, the innocent child became worried. With tears in his eyes, he pleaded, “Please eat! Eat!” Moved by his pure love, Gopinath ate the entire offering, leaving no remnants.

When Mukunda returned, he asked for some prasadam. Raghunandan replied that Gopinath had eaten everything. Surprised, Mukunda wondered what had happened, for his son was truthful and sincere.

The next time Raghunandan offered the bhoga, Mukunda secretly watched. Again, Raghunandan lovingly requested Gopinath to eat. The Lord began eating a laddu, but upon noticing Mukunda watching, He stopped, leaving half the laddu in His hand. Mukunda, witnessing this miracle, was overwhelmed with ecstatic love and embraced his son with tears of joy. Even today, devotees are said to be able to see the half-eaten laddu in Gopinath’s lotus hand.

Raghunandan attended the Kheturi Utsava. In Krishna-lila he was Kandarpa Manjari, and in Dvaraka-lila he was Kandarpa, the son of Shri Krishna. His son was Kanai Thakur, and his descendants still reside in Shri Khanda. He was born in 1432 Shakabda.

Vamsidāsa Bābājī Maharaja was a paramahamsa devotee who sometimes lived in Navadvipa at the time of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. Wearing only a loincloth and eating whatever came his way, Vamsidāsa Bābājī Maharaja traveled throughout India, visiting holy places. He worshiped Lord Krishna on a spontaneous platform that neophytes on the path of devotion cannot imitate.

𝘼 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙮 𝙆𝙧𝙨𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙪𝙥𝙖 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙞 𝙙𝙖𝙨𝙞

One time Prabhupada had a cold, and Hari Sauri had given me a little scrap of orange silk to make into a handkerchief for Prabhupada.

I was a neophyte devotee sewing for Radha-Madhava, and I thought, “Oh, I have to sew this quickly.”

But I didn’t sew it very well, and I gave it to Hari Sauri anyway to give to Prabhupada.

After many years I saw Hari Sauri again and asked him, “Prabhu, do you remember that little orange handkerchief you gave me to sew for Prabhupada? That little scrap of silk?”

He said, “Yes.”

I said, “Did Srila Prabhupada actually ever use it?”

He said, “Oh, yeah. Prabhupada used it and he loved that handkerchief.”

I said, “Really? It was so horribly sewn. I’ve lamented for forty-three years that I sewed it so poorly.”

He said, “Look, I’ll tell you what happened.”

He said, “There was a lot of sannyasis in the room, and I came in with that handkerchief to give to Prabhupada as one of the sannyasis was telling Srila Prabhupada what an excellent sannyasi he was.

He told Prabhupada, ‘I don’t talk to women, I don’t look at women, and I’m very fixed in my sannyasa vows.’

Srila Prabhupada was just looking down quietly listening, not commenting. I handed the handkerchief to Prabhupada and he beamed. He picked up the handkerchief and he addressed the sannyasis in the room. He said, ‘I will always accept service from my daughters.'”
