His closest rival as of the same date was NBA legend LeBron James (), who had 32,462,789 followers.

Highest-grossing female action movie star

As of 8 February 2016, Jennifer Lawrence (USA, b. 1990) was the most successful female action movie star of all time in terms of box-office takings, with The Hunger Games series (in which she plays Katniss Everdeen) and her two movies in the X-Men franchise (in which she plays Raven/Mystique) having grossed a total of $4,005,735,448 (£2.76 billion), according to The Numbers.

Most decades with a Top 20 hit on the US Hot Country Songs chart

Dolly Parton (USA; 1960s–2010s) and Reba McEntire (USA; 1970s–2020s) have both achieved six decades, consecutively, with a Top 20 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Dolly’s sixth decade of Top 20 hit-making was confirmed when “Jolene” (feat. Pentatonix) debuted at No.18 on 8 October 2016. McEntire scored her sixth Top 20 decade when “Be a Light” (feat. Thomas Rhett, Hillary Scott, Chris Tomlin & Keith Urban) bowed at No.19 – on its way to a peak position of No.7 – on 11 April 2020.

Parton on Hot Country Songs: 25 No.1s (1971–2006), 54 Top 10s (1970–2006), 109 entries (1967–2021).

McEntire on Hot Country Songs: 24 No.1s (1983–2011), 60 Top 10s (1980–2020), 106 entries (1976–2021).

Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart was inaugurated on 20 October 1958.

The most consecutive daily personal video blogs posted on YouTube is 3,653 videos, and was achieved by Charles Trippy aka "CTFxC" (USA) on the YouTube channel 'Charles and Allie', from 1 May 2009 to 1 May 2019.

Charles had the following to say about his days spent vlogging, “When I started filming daily I never expected I would have the opportunity to share my life and meet millions of people all over the world! It’s been the most insane experience I never could have imagined".

Most words in a hit single

"Rap God" by Eminem (USA) packs 1,560 words into a fast and furious 6 min 4 sec – that's a tongue-twisting average of 4.28 words per second! In one 15-second segment alone, "Slim Shady" spits 97 words (6.46 words per second) at "supersonic speed".

Excluding the 26-second intro (spoken by an unknown vocalist) and an indeterminate number of words rapped by Eminem in the intro's background (likely to be 22, all included in the total of 1,560), "Slim Shady" actually raps 1,460 words in 5 min 38 sec (4.31 words per second) in the verses/choruses of the track.

"Rap God" finds Eminem spitting rhymes about Monica Lewinsky, Dale Earnhardt and a host of fellow rappers including 2Pac, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Run-DMC, Dr Dre, Rakim, Pharoahe Monch, Fabolous, Ray J and Heavy D & The Boyz. In all, 43 figures from the world of rap/hip-hop are name-checked/referenced by Eminem.

Taken from The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem's eighth studio album, "Rap God" debuted at Number 5 on the UK's Official Singles Chart on 26 October 2013, and at Number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 on 2 November 2013, as well as charting in numerous other countries around the world. It was the rapper's seventh Top 10 debut on the Hot 100, eclipsing Lil Wayne (six) for the most Top 10 debuts on the Hot 100 (male).

"Rap God" also helped Eminem set the record for the most simultaneous Top 20 hits on the US Hot 100 as a lead solo artist. "The Monster" (No.3), "Berzerk" (No.15), "Survival" (No.16) and "Rap God" (No.17) were all in the Top 20 on 16 November 2013. Only The Beatles, with six simultaneous Top 20 hits in April-May 1964, can better Eminem's achievement among lead artists. 50 Cent, T-Pain and Lil Wayne have all had four songs in the Top 20 at the same time, but all were featured artists on at least one track.

Eminem performed "Rap God" at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards in New York City, USA, on 3 November 2013.

As of 5 September 2016, Ellen DeGeneres (USA, ) was the most popular TV personality on Twitter, with 61,848,366 followers.

This made DeGeneres the seventh most followed person overall as of the same date. The presenter and actor can also lay claim to having set the record for most retweeted message, a selfie taken at the 2014 Oscars, packed with A-list movie stars, which went viral on Twitter.

As of 26 July 2016, the most followers on Vine was 16,066,791 – as achieved by Andrew Bachelor, aka KingBach (USA), of Los Angeles, California, USA.

As of the same date, KingBach had 6,066,155,379 "loops" (i.e., views) of his video posts on Vine.

The prophetic "Lazarus" video shows Bowie lying in a hospital bed, his eyes covered with a blindfold, and at one point levitating. The song's haunting lyrics include: "Look up here, I'm in heaven" and "This way or no way, you know I'll be free, just like that bluebird, now ain't that just like me."

As of 14 January 2016, "Lazarus" had been watched 19,086,946 times.

Bowie's VEVO views were boosted by 5,198% on 11 January 2016 when compared to his average views for the week previously.

DavidBowieVEVO hosts 60 videos by "The Thin White Duke", including the title track of his final album "Blackstar" and live versions of "Heroes" and "Rebel Rebel".

Highest annual earnings for a musician ever (female)

According to Forbes’ The Celebrity 100 list of the highest-paid entertainers of 2019, singer Taylor Swift (USA) earned $185 million (£146.6 million) between 1 June 2018 and 1 June 2019. Swift also holds the record for the highest annual earnings among all celebrities over the same period. Her income was boosted by 2018's Reputation stadium concerts, which became the highest-grossing tour in US history. By its final date, on 21 November 2018, it had taken $266.1 million (£207.3 million).

This means that Swift bettered her own record annual takings (in 2015–16) of $170 m (then £116.3 m) reported by Forbes on 1 June 2016, which at the time surpassed the $135 m (then £85.9 m) earned by fellow American pop star Katy Perry (b. Katheryn Hudson) in the 12 months leading up to 1 June 2015.

The all-time record for annual earnings by a musician is currently held by hip-hop musician/producer Dr Dre (USA, b. Andre Young), who raked in estimated pre-tax earnings of $620 m (then £378 m) in the 12 months to 1 June 2014, in large part down to the 2014 sale of Beats Electronics – the headphone-manufacturing company he founded with Jimmy Iovine – to Apple for $3 bn (£1.8 bn).
