We've got the first bitter taste of never ending constructions and thoughtless blocking of drains and natural waterways. Even though monsoon has not fully set in, after Sunday's torrential rain our entire workshop was standing in 25cm deep water. To make things worse, it was our holiday, so no one was aware of the unfolding disaster. Thank you to Tenzin Tsundue and everyone at the Ashram, who came immediately to help karma scoop out buckets and buckets of water and rescue what could be rescued.
Yet a loss of around 3.5Lakh Rs has occurred: 350 books, cards, stationary, packing material, wool, threads, ribbons, dolls, puppets, angels, clothes, work in progress, computer batteries, all cushions for the ladies to sit on are gone, the linoleum in the working area and store room had to be ripped out and needs replacing, ...not to mention the extra work for our ladies: washing, drying, sorting through things, heaving dripping heavy rolls of wet wool up the roof, digging a drain and carrying heavy soil: it's the fourth day of upstairs, downstairs, climbing the roof and many more to come before we can settle back into our normal routines.
Even though there are countless, far worse tragedies happening for so many Beings around the globe, if anyone feels inclined to ease our financial burden, we'd be more than grateful.
