Tibetan carpet making is a traditional handicraft with a rich history that has been passed down through generations. Skilled artisans use only pure wool from sheep and yaks, which is dyed using natural dyes to create vibrant and long-lasting colors. The carpets are adorned with ancient symbolic motifs that hold deep cultural significance. They make excellent gifts or are used to enhance the beauty of homes.

Our weavers are highly skilled in creating a wide range of Tibetan rugs using existing patterns. However, we also offer customised designs to cater to the unique preferences of our clients. With meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality, we strive to create carpets that not only look beautiful but also serve as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Tibet.

Ceremonial unrolling of an ancient Thangka painting at Karsha Nunnery.
The literal translation of the Tibetan word ‘THANG KA’ means ‘recorded message’. Thangkas communicate a message to the practitioner, serving as an aid to teaching and as an aid to meditation through the visualization of the deity. Originally lamas / monks used scroll paintings to instruct the Buddhist Dharma. When a Thangka is created, it is not just a work of art. It is an object of devotion, an aid to spiritual practice and a source of blessings for those who create it as well as those who view and meditate upon it.
