Ugadi is the confluence of two words, 'Yug' and 'Adi', where 'Yug' means age and 'Adi' refers to beginning. Hence, the festival of Ugadi, stating beginning of a new age, is the New Year day for people of Deccan region of India. The date of Ugadi is not fixed as it varies with the lunisolar Hindu calendar. The first day of the Chaitra month of Saka Samvata is seen as the beginning of the New Year and Ugadi is celebrated on this day with full fun and fervor, especially in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Sindh and Manipur. We have some of the best Ugadi SMSes which you can text to your friends and family during this Ugadi. Happy Ugadi in advance!

Dream Weavers – a business venture specialising in providing disposable products for spas, beauty parlours and hospitals was dreamt up by Denise in 2008 and now employs a predominantly female workforce of nearly 30 people. The company has steadily grown and has a turnover in excess of US$20,000 and an aim to double this total in the coming year. The pioneering approach of Denise is recognized as an entrepreneurial success as no other manufacturers of Eco-friendly disposable materials exist within the region of Chennai, India.
As a new entrepreneur, and a woman, Denise found it difficult to be taken seriously by both suppliers and customers. In spite of a prejudiced climate and with the support of Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust, Denise persevered and Dream Weavers has built a loyal customer base. She currently exports to Dubai and Singapore and hopes in the future to export outwards to Australia, UK and Canada.

Denise’s background in battling within a male dominated and prejudiced environment prompted her to initiate a number of training programmes focused on improving the chances of furthering her female staff’s skills and employability.
