It was started in 1933 as a book stall in Changanacherry; a bubbling economic centre in the erstwhile travancore state. It was a time when, after centuries of slumber, India started its reinvention. The independence movement gained momentum and India was freed from the clutches of the colonial power and more so from the decayed system and superstitions which hampered India’s progress in technology
and free thinking. Books and Newspapers ushered in this change among the populace. SH Books played its role as a publisher and book store in this renaissance. Later SH Books brought in revolution with its series of easy reference guides for students. The SH Book corner in town became a popular landmark. SH books continued its journey through the period of communist march over in Kerala and brought in many new books to the readers. It stood large at the period of emergency and the gag on press. Later with the turn of century when everything became digital; books remained essential and so did SH Books. SH book shop branched through generations and the landmark shop became SH Book World.
