SGR started its operations from a small shop in Gandhibazar, one of the very old localities of Bangalore & has recently shifted to a bigger place in nearby V.V.Puram. Enterprises was started by Manjunath K on August 31, 2010. Enterprises, you get various types of shavige like rice shavige, ragi shavige, khara shavige, deluxe special shavige (has vegetables and dry fruits), special khara shavige (h
as vegetables), sweet shavige, puliyogare shavige, chatnipudi shavige and curd masala shavige. You can also choose to buy the plain rice shavige and season it to your taste or you can get the shopwalas to season it for you. The quantity ranges from 100 gms to a few kilograms. While one kg of shavige would cost you between Rs 70 to Rs 300, depending on the kind of shavige you choose. One kg of shavige serves a sumptuous meal for 3-4 people. Shavige needs to be ordered in advance if it is above 2 kgs or if it’s on weekends and holidays. This is not just a shop to shop for shavige, but it also doubles up as an eatery for shavige. Eating here would cost you between Rs 30 to Rs 35. Apart from shavige, the shop also sells idli, dosa and appam batter. While you can get idli and dosa batter every day, appam batter is available only on weekends. They are all priced at Rs 40 per kg and they do not add soda to the batter. The shop also sells a variety of pickles and gojjus. All the items are prepared at the shop in hygienic conditions. The shop has gained immense popularity purely by word-of-mouth. Manjunath, one of the owners, swears that they haven’t spent a single rupee on advertising. He says that many people come every day to his shop saying that they got to know about the quality of his products through others.
