He came to Srinagar (J & K), India, in 1935 from where he started the business of Green tea in Maharaj Gunj, a whole-sale market in downtown area of Srinagar. In his life time, he established his business in Amritsar (Punjab) also. With his hard work, sincerity and dedication, he rose to great heights. Being a simple and truthful soul, he achieved success and became a name to reckon with. To ensur
e proper running of business, his son Joginder Pal Singh Anand joined him after completing his graduation. In 1974, a new company by the name of “Green Tea Company” (GTC) was started at Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar by him. “Green Tea Company” made a big name for itself in a short span of time. Despite the turmoil in J&K, GTC stood its ground to ensure the best supply to its esteemed customers in Srinagar, Kargil & Ladakh. The tea is acquired from the best gardens of Assam, Bengal & Darjeeling. In 1995 – 96, his grandson, Gurpreet Singh Anand joined the ancestral business with his father at Maharaj Gunj. A time when there was lot of disturbance in Kashmir, he managed to run the business smoothly along with his father. Being young, dynamic and enthusiast, he diversified his business into other fields and ventured into exports of carpets, shawls, stoles, chain-stitch, crewel, etc. from its head office in Srinagar. Later a new set up for exports was established in Delhi by him under the name & style “Anand Creations”. His mother, Mrs. Jasmohini Anand, the backbone of the family, joined him in his new venture. Under the guidance of his mother & with the blessings & best wishes of his family along with his dedication, sincerity and hard work, he rose to unexpected heights in a short span of time and reached the highest levels by bagging All India Highest Export Award in chain-stitch for two consecutive years i.e., 2008 – 09 and 2009 – 2010. Then in 2014, what was a dream, wish and vision of his mother, Mrs. Jasmohini Anand, Gurpreet planned a business of consumer packing of food items, under the name & style “JAGS Food Industries Pvt. Ltd.”, having its head office in Amritsar (Punjab). The name JAGS was the brain child of his mother as the alphabets in the name stand for family member’s names. With the eye on quality, rather than quantity, JAGS Food Industries Pvt. Ltd. believes in providing the best to the consumer. JAGS Food Industries Pvt. Ltd., in a short span of time has made a niche for itself in the market. Starting with Tea, Rice, Saffron Instant Mix Tea, JAGS has become a renowned manufacturer, supplier and exporter of different varieties of tea. The company has now entered the market with different products like Honey, Dry Fruits, Whole Spices, etc. to name a few. Along with bulk packing, JAGS has gone ahead with small consumer packing.
