When I met my husband, I was only 19 and we worked at the same firm and our rooms were pretty close.
One day he glanced into my doorway and he offered me to join him for a coffee break, little did he know I didn't drink coffee at the time. It was bitter and it was hot (untill this day I don’t like hot drinks) but, since I didn't want to miss out on the chance of spending some time with him, I replied in my coolest voice: "Sure, I'd love to"
I had to drink a full cup and keep smiling. His invitations kept on coming and I kept on drinking my hot and bitter coffee. It carried on for a few more week until he ask me out on a proper date and since then we are together, for more than 20 years now.
The day after our first date, he ask me again to join him on his coffee break, I gently explained to him that I don't drink coffee, he was surprised and disappointed - he loved coffee, he drank it 5-7 times a day, black, espresso, latte, capuchino, he liked it hot and bitter.
He used to say "life happens, coffee helps". He was always a funny guy.
A few years ago I had a stunning revelation, you can drink your coffee cold and you can even add a bit of sugar, and it's great!!! It is stimulating and refreshing and so I am hooked.
Nowadays, I drink 2-3 cups every day, always cold - even in the winter. I like it best in a clear plastic tall cup with a lid on and with a straw. On my favorite cup there's a saying "You are as cool as the temperature of your drink" ha ha it makes me laugh.
My ice coffee recipe:
One shot of espresso
A few grains of sugar
A lot of ice
Cold water
A drop of milk
