Part2.

Many would think that tiffany stained glass windows are named after a jewelry brand? but it is not so.
Louis Comfort Tiffany, an American contemporary artist, was born into the family of Charles Lewis Tiffany, founder of Tiffany & Co. Jewelry. From childhood, he was surrounded by luxury, taught art, decor, painting, but he decided to devote himself to a completely different art. He was looking for an elegant way to combine the interior design or jewelry with glass. For centuries, coarse, thick glass was used for stained glass, it was wrapped with lead or copper rods, which made the stained glass window heavy and rough. These materials did not fit the modern world. The main artistic movement at that time was Art Nouveau, and it demanded elegance and smoothness of lines. It was Louis who invented a new type of staining and proposed a way to connect small pieces of glass using a thin copper tape that allowed working with fancy multi-color, voluminous forms and creating truly unusual compositions. In a short time, the Tiffany technique revolutionized the art of craft, and became the most widespread in the whole world.

Part 1.
What is a stained glass window and who is Tiffany?
Since ancient times, people have tried to decorate the homes of kings, priests and high-ranking nobles, in order to separate them from the common people.
In the early temples, the windows were filled with thin transparent plates of alabaster, mica, which made up the ornament.
At first it was an abstraction, but later thematic, mainly on biblical themes, plot compositions began to appear. In the Gothic era, for example, the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris (we will talk about this separately), the usual “Roses” stained-glass windows above the portals or elongated thin “Arrows” began to appear. The production of such stained-glass windows was a very expensive and time-consuming process, so artisans were looking for new solutions. During the Renaissance, the technique of scraping on painted glass, the so-called "stained glass painting”, was used. Later, many artists used oil paints or glued thin rice paper with an already finished image. But this does not at all look like modern Tiffany glass. @ Netanya, Israel

Today was a strange day! I've received an order to urgently craft a lovely heart for a girlfriend. The main condition was that a smudge or large mark of contrasting color should be present in the glass. It was necessary to do all the work in a couple of hours. There was no time to prepare a sketch or to buy a suitable glass. I had to postpone the main order and feverishly improvise. Here is what came of it.

So, my good friends, it’s time for us to get acquainted a bit more. Here is a little something about me:
My name is Alina and I am a stained glass artisan.
On this page I will share my experience and discoveries with you, and we will talk about art.
Let me tell you a little about myself. For 7 years I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and after graduating, I searched for my direction for a long time. I tried to study batik, graphics, watercolors, but i didnt find it engaging enough.
In 2011, I was invited to participate in the international art competition in Spain. My theme was “proclamation of the past in the (modern) present”. And for my project, I chose a stained glass art. For me, working with a stained glass is like playing with caledoscope. It fascinates me to watch how colored glass puzzles come together in an interesting pattern. The modern stained-glass is very different, from those that you may find in the windows of monasteries, but it is still a very old and magical art.
For more than 5 years I have been working in stained glass “tiffany” style. Tiffany stained glass is a special kind of decorative art. It is this technique that helps to reveal all the beuty of glass and light.
In my posts I want to reveal some secrets to you, show how enchanting the glass can be, and who knows, maybe you too will fall in love with these colored lollipops?

New sketches to orders, soon there will be something interesting;))) Wait for the result;)) @ Netanya, Israel
