Frieda and Bug are 9 week old sister and brother who are in foster with us after losing their mama in an accident.

Frieda is affectionate, playful and loves her food. Bug is a little shy and looks to his sister for confidence, but is getting braver by the day, he loves playing and purrs when held.

It would be great if they were adopted together, they would make amazing pets, and they're very interested in our older cats, so could live with other animals.

While we both feel we've neglected growing a little this year, we've just scaled down a bit and bought some plants to supplement our own seedlings. We're still eating from the garden most days, and there's lots more to come. The polytunnel is looking good.

The flower beds have been added to (Lorraine's gra for foxgloves and achillea are evident). But the most beautiful parts are always the wild areas... We'll never have a neat and structured garden, neither of see any joy in it. So we're celebrating the wildness of germander speedwell, herb Robert, fuschia, buddleja, scabious and the most amazing display of wild foxgloves beside the workshop all growing out of an old wall.

Folks, a little change is in order. For the foreseeable future I won't be running Red Meadow as a business. I've decided to keep this account running if you want to hang around.

Together with my wife Lorraine we'll post about our life here on our lil patch of land in rural North Wexford, growing veg, DIY, our animals, craft projects and of course my woodwork.

I have two of my Forest Shadow Boxes left and will have them on Friday. These are branches that I've collected from the woodland surrounding my home, I've dried them in the workshop and encased them in a reclaimed wooden frame.

Each one has a hook for hanging at the back, but it would also look great on a windowsill or tucked into a bookshelf.

*they can be customised at home with lights, moss, foraged items or even little lego figures 🏡.

My last market of 2024 is this coming Friday 20th at night market from 2-8pm. One of the nicest evening shopping experiences 🎄

I'm fully out of bat boxes and large bee hotels they won't be restocked before Christmas , but there will be a lot of activity in the workshop this week with bird houses and mini bee hotels, I'll also have some wooden decorations, and the last batch of garden trugs & chonky boi holders.

I have a fresh batch of garden trugs ready for this weekend's markets . These would make a perfect Christmas gift for anyone who spends time in the garden, from carrying veg or flower harvests to storing tools.

Handmade in my workshop in North Wexford using as much recycled materials as I can. We use these trugs in our own garden at home and after 5 or 6 years of steady use they're still perfect.
