A wonderful survivor this c1840 🇺🇲🇨🇮 American, Boston rocking chair. Popular from the 1830s through to the mid 19th-century in the Northeastern states of Connecticut, Massachusetts etc

A large top rail to support the head, long thin spindle backrest, scrolling arm rests and thick scrolled fruitwood slab seat.
Original ochre stenciling decoration and wear that only time can produce. Repairs and maintenance down the years give it a great rustic look .
