In the case of the worst-kept "secret" in the world, let's address the elephant in the room! Little Lane Bookshop is not for sale, but we are moving! To a bigger and brighter and a better shop in the very centre of the Waterford Cultural Quarter!

I'm not fooling (sorry!) when I tell you there's an insane amount of quality books going out this week, including Brandon Sanderson's complete Mistborn Trilogy, and the 4 books in Arthur C. [SOLD] Local Legend! Dervla Murphy was born in Lismore County Waterford in 1931. She is a world-renowned travel writer, writing for over 50 years, starting in 1965 with "Full Tilt: Ireland to India with a Bicycle".

Other works detail her "off the beaten track" adventures through Asia, Africa, and South America. Remarkably, she completed most of these trips solo until the birth of her daughter Rachel (even more remarkable, they travelled alone together once Rachel was 5 years old).

Despite this severe case of wanderlust, Dervla lived in Lismore, with her five dogs and three cats, until her death in 2022 at 90 years old. "Wheels Within Wheels" is her autobiography about life growing up in rural Waterford. Publised in 1979, this Penguin edition from 1983 is available in-shop only for €6.

Most of you know I am always trying to champion the "forgotten heroes" of the bottom shelf.. it just seems unlucky that some authors are overlooked because they end up on the floor...!

Anyway, I went crawling on the floor so you don't have to! Here are some of my favourites from the bottom shelf! All of this is also available online for delivery or click-and-collect if you're really averse to looking down there! 📚📚📚
