Hi everyone, Lisa here 👋 Its been a while!
I've always shared our story here with you, but I feel like I've just disappeared into the ether this year. My energy completely zapped.
Running a small business is like running an ultra marathon. I embrace endurance sports, so I guess the nature of this suited my personality! But this year I have learned, the finish line I had been waiting to cross just isn't coming, and I'm so drained I can't keep running.
After almost seven years we have decided to close Finders Keepers. Running a highly seasonal business with fixed costs was always challenging. We have done our best to adapt and change to meet all challenges faced over the years. But honestly, the challenges just keep on coming and I'm tired. I need to make the change now before I lose my spark completely. I know it's a shame because there's potential with our online business, but my passion has always been in the physical experience. I did consider upskilling in digital marketing to grow that side of our business, but I love the bricks and mortar shopping experience.
We are not closing immediately. Our lease doesn't come to an end until September, so hopefully we will get to see you all over the coming weeks. There won't be a big closing sale. We will continue to trade as we are and hopefully have some busy days ahead to help us honour our commitments to our wonderful suppliers.
I would just like to say the huge amount of love and admiration I have for Beth, who has kept the show on the road when I stepped back. This is so hard for Beth too, and yet she has continued working like a pro. Beth I bloody love you. You're going to go on and do amazing things. And I can't wait to hang out with you again, just as sisters 🥰🥰
Like every good story, their is an exciting beginning, a griping middle, and a happy ending. We love the community that we have built through Finders Keepers and are so grateful for each and every connection made. I'm brimming with pride with what we achieved. I do think we made our mark.
Luke, I'm so happy we did this. But I'm also so happy that soon, we can rest 😂
