Sunday 17th of May is World Communication Day.
Basically, the message is a reminder that real people matter more than technology.
While AI (artificial intelligence) and digital tools are every-where, the Vatican wants to make sure we don't lose the "human touch." Here is the message broken down simply:
o People over Pixels: Don't let AI-generated voices or fake faces (deepfakes) replace real human connection. Your unique voice and face are what make you.
o Heart over Algorithms (a recipe for computers directing the computer how to present or interpret something): Technology can process data, but it can’t feel empathy or use a conscience. Communication should always come from a place of human feeling.
o Be Smart Users: We need to learn how to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s computer-generated so we don't get misled by tech.
o Tools, not Masters: AI and social media should be a tool that helps humans communicate with each other, not a replacement for the people themselves or from personal contact with each other.
