Yeats Country Design Hand made slate craft in the west of Ireland. Each and every Slate is reclaimed and used as is. i feel it has hidden beauty and hidden inspiration .

Each and every item is reclaimed from damaged slate . i rarely use complete slates as i feel there is more of a story behind the creation when it is broken and damaged .The slate i use is 100's of years old and was used years ago on homes and churches around Ireland. The slate itself is a natural rock formation so it is millions of years old . yep.... pretty cool isn't it ! .

I recently started working with ogham.

For those of you who don't know what ogham is , it is the very first language used In Ireland between the 4th and 6th centuries .
There is only about 400 inscriptions remaining in Ireland today . back then people made markings on trees and stone to mark their land . I have to translate the word to Irish and then translate it to ogham .
