Gadaí Dubh Books

Gadaí Dubh Books Bookshop selling new, used and antiquarian books. Specialising in Natural History and Irish History.

Gadaí Dubh Books is located in the centre of Ballymakeera village or, as it is located in the Muskerry Gaeltacht, Baile Mhic Íre, on the N22 Cork/Killarney road, 14km west of Macroom town in County Cork. The shop is named after a legendary local ne'er do well known as 'An Gadaí Dubh' or 'The Black Thief' and stocks a general selection of new, used and antiquarian books on a wide range of subjects

but specialises in Irish History and Natural History. Here, you'll find brand new books mixed with out of print and rare volumes from the 1700s onward as well as First, signed and other collectors' editions with prices ranging from 50c to €300 or more. Visitors are invited to browse and then relax in a comfy chair, enjoying a complimentary coffee, while reading to the airs of Mozart, Brahms and other peaceful composers. Presently, we do not sell online or take orders by telephone as we prefer being an old time bookshop that requires the actual presence of visitors and readers to see, touch and smell the books before deciding on whether to purchase a volume or two or not. Location:
Loc8 Code: WWR-59-N46
Lat & Long.: N 51.936051, W 009.144415
