This weeks drop includes the long awaited follow up album by . Their debut EP from 2024 was damn near impossible to keep on the shelves and was really well received by all the staff here at Downbeat.

The follow up album titled "Another Taste II" is a continuation of the sound that introduces a few new synthesizers. Much like the first offering this one goes in the bag of most disco selectors as well as soul and funk heads.

This picture was taken over a year ago when I first met .stax , the connection was instant. I had already heard the music and loved it and within minutes of speaking with Ben I realized how focussed and driven he was to achieve a REAL top quality soul sound from his studio in Galway.

The album "Coloured in full" blew me away. It's the first time I've ever heard an Irish soul music recording that holds up to the US modern standard set by studios like Daptone and Big Crown.

It was no surprise the follow up album "In View" held the same standard. We have had it on repeat all week long and are now suffering from serious ear worm. I can't get the lyrics out of my head!

Anyway all of this to say that THIS THURSDAY the band are performing at at 8PM. It's a show we wholeheartedly recommend. Tickets are still available and honestly I don't know when your gonna see a better live soul act in Limerick this year.

Swipe for audio of the band playing outside our shop this past weekend. If they sound that good in a warehouse laneway you can imagine how great they will sound with engineering the sound at the RR venue!

So! Stop doing nothing with your midweeks and get on down. The weather is fine and it's about time to throw caution to the wind and go out for a Thursday night dance (I'm talking to you grown people who work Monday to Friday and never see what the city is up to midweek!!)
