Another brilliant local organisation has joined the Knook Book Drop 📚✨

We’re delighted to welcome Dundalk Credit Union Ltd. and Carrickmacross Credit Union as the latest sponsor supporting personalised storybooks for primary school children in their community.

Hundreds of children across their local schools will receive their very own Knook storybook - personalised with their classroom, teacher, friends, and local community.

What we love about this partnership is that it goes far beyond “sponsorship”.

These books become keepsakes.
They get brought home.
Read again and again.
Shared with parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters.

And for many children, it becomes one of the first times reading feels personal and exciting.

I want to show you what happened in a classroom in Wexford last week. 😊

For anyone new here: a Knook Book Drop is when a local business gifts children in their local primary schools with their very own personalised storybooks - A story made just for them. 📚

A small thing on paper - but the photos show you the impact.

Here’s a short update on what’s been happening at Knook this month. A couple of moments worth sharing:

What is the Knook Book Drop?

This is our national book campaign where we create personalised storybooks where your child’s classroom becomes the story. 📚

Local businesses sponsor the books, schools receive them for free, and every child brings one home to keep.

If you would like your child’s school to be included, or if you want to sponsor books keep reading. 👇

- The volume is climbing:
We’ve now created 2,599 personalised stories for children. Last month we hit a record of 332 books shipped in a single day. This month we beat it: 361.

The number itself isn’t the point. The point is that every one of those books arrived to a young reader somewhere - with familiar faces, familiar places, and a story that feels personal and belongs to them.

Multiply that by 361 and you start to see what’s actually happening.

- A moment from a recent delivery:
After one of our recent school deliveries, the principal wrote to the sponsoring business to say thank you - and I got copied in. I won’t share the whole letter, but here’s the part that stayed with me:

“The students in our Infant Class, which included children from our Special Class for Children with Autism, were absolutely delighted to receive their own personalised books. They are already treasured as beautiful keepsakes for the children and their families. Initiatives such as this play a vital role in encouraging early literacy and fostering a love of reading from a young age.”

Treasured keepsakes. Not a campaign. Not a promotion. A keepsake.

- This is why I’m so engrossed in building what we’re building. If it helps even one child to engage with reading and learning, then we’re doing okay. 🙇‍♂️

The crossover you never knew you needed to hear about: and Knook. 🎤 📚 😝

Dolly launched her because her father couldn’t read.

That was 1995. She’s now gifted over 300 million books to children around the world. That’s one every 1.07 seconds. 🤯

She didn’t build a bookshop. She built a distribution model - free books, funded by community partners, delivered directly to kids.

We’re huge fans of what the team at the The Dollywood Foundation have built with the Imagination Library. (Link in the comments if you want to read more about their work.)

What we’re doing with Knook isn’t a new idea. Free books, funded by local organisations, delivered through schools. Dolly proved the model three decades ago.

Our own little additional flavour of this is personalisation; Every child gets a book written for their class, featuring their teacher, their friends. And the business sponsoring all the credit for making it happen!

If we can make even a fraction of the impact the Dollywood Foundation’s Imagination Lobrary has made we would be very happy!!! 🙇
