Message : The carnal mind
Romans 8:5-11 KJV For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. [6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. [8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. [9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. [10] And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [11] But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
The carnal mind is the mind centred on physical things.
The lustful and boastful mind
The mind of the devil
The mind of greed
The mind of the world as seen in 1 John 2:15-16 KJV
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Characteristics of the carnal mind 2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Galatians 5:19-21 KJV Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Judas Iscariot was a good example of a carnal minded person following Jesus with unholy and greedy agenda as seen in
Luke 22:2-5 KJV
And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. [3] Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. [4] And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. [5] And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
Do you want to live a life pleasing to God and be his friend? Surrender all to him, make him your Lord and personal saviour, embrace holiness and ask him to create in you a new heart
Prayer
• Deliver me o lord from the bo***ge of flesh and lust in Jesus name.
• Father Lord create in me a new heart in the name of Jesus.
• Lord my father set me free from the bo***ge of deceit of the devil in the name of Jesus.
• Make me holy and righteous I pray thee in the name of Jesus.
• Lord I pray thee let my ways be pleasing unto you always in Jesus name.
• Satan will not enter me in the name of Jesus.
